embolden the animus
“Tonight something was different. The grief now felt suffocating. I sensed deeply that it was time for a change. Yet I also felt exhausted and overwhelmed thinking about the discipline it would require to rebuild my life brick by brick.
As I lay there, suffocated and overwhelmed, I heard a shhhh sound moving across the trees. A light rain was falling, now on my face and body. Its cool pinpricks dazzled me where I lay, in a swimsuit, on the warm sand, by the warm fire. Very Costa Rica, to hold cold rain in a halo of warmth, offering an experience of chromatic range, in total physical comfort.
Finally I stood up, and put the last logs on the fire as it hissed freshly with each raindrop. Taking hold of a piece of white driftwood I had found in the shape of a veiled woman, I prayed. Embolden my animus. Enliven my character to face these challenges.”
